Present Tense Vision

During Week 1 of the 6 week nutrition course that I am currently taking, the idea of a ‘Present Tense Vision’ is presented.  This particular idea piqued my interest as it’s a concept that I’ve delved into in the past while spending time doing one of my favorite things…reading.

Pretty much everyone knows what a ‘vision’ is, in some way or another.  One definition is ‘a mental image of what the future will or could be like’.  It’s great to have a vision for your future…positive things that you would like your future to include.  A popular way of putting your visions into something tangible is to create a vision board, so that you can actually see your visions in physical form (pictures, words, etc.).  I’ve definitely done this a few times over the years.

A bit of a twist to putting together visions of your future is to write or speak them in the present tense.  I truly believe that there is power in how you formulate these vision statements.  Wording them so that they are in the present tense, as if you already have them, can be very empowering.  For example, instead of stating ‘I will have more energy after I lose some weight’ you would state ‘I have more energy because I am at my natural body weight’.  Making these statements out loud, even in front of a mirror, is even more empowering.

The practice of Present Tense Visions aligns with the theory of The Law of Attraction.  The Law of Attraction is generally defined as ‘whatever you put out to the universe is what you will receive back to you’.  The term ‘manifest’ is used often in this theory as well.  It is truly amazing how powerful our thoughts can be. I encourage you to read more about this theory…it’s really interesting!  A few of my favorite authors in this area of interest are Wayne Dyer (passed away this year…RIP) and Louise Hay.  Even Einstein has written about this concept scientifically.

So go ahead…put some present tense visions out into the Universe and see what happens…I dare you! Feel free to send me a comment if you are interested in this topic and/or have some real-life experiences to share.
